Two arrested for robbing PM Narendra Modi's niece in Delhi
New Delhi, Oct 13:
Two of the bike-borne assailants who were involved in robbing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's niece in Delhi has been arrested from Haryana's Sonepat on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's niece Damayanti Ben Modi got a first-hand taste of the law and order situation in the capital on Saturday when she was targetted by bike-borne snatchers.
Damayanti, who reportedly returned to Delhi from Amritsar on Saturday morning, had booked a room at the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Civil Lines.
She was just outside the gate of the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan when two bike-borne youth snatched her purse and fled from the spot.
Damayanti filed a case of snatching with a police station in Civil Lines. She informed that the purse contained cash of around Rs. 56,000 apart from a couple of mobile phones and important documents.
The place where the incident took place is just a few kilometers from the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In the past couple of months, several incidents of snatching have taken reported in the national capital.
On September 22, a woman journalist was injured after she attempted to resist a snatching bid in south Delhi's CR park while she was returning home in an auto-rickshaw.
Two men on motorcycle snatched her mobile phone and in the struggle, she fell from the vehicle while the men fled the spot.
A few days later, another woman journalist fell victim when her mobile phone was snatched by two bike-borne men in southeast Delhi's Okhla.
