Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology launched a special web portal on Monday. With the help of this web portal, stolen mobile phones will be blocked and tracked so that no one can misuse them. At present, this web portal will be for Delhi only. Earlier it was launched in Mumbai in September 2019 as a pilot project. Now after the launch of this special portal in Delhi, ordinary people will be able to block phone theft. Along with this, the risk of data theft to people will also be reduced. Also, the police will be able to track the stolen phone with the help of this portal.
Data base will be prepared for all mobile phones of the country
The Department of Telecommunications has prepared a database of all mobile phones in the country for this web portal, which has been named the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). In this, the IMEI number of all the mobile phones of the country has been registered. If your phone is stolen, then after complaining to the police, your phone will be blocked from here. Then it will not work on any operator's network. Due to this database, the police will also be able to find this phone. The police will easily find it wherever it is being used anywhere in the country.

>> If your phone is stolen, then first you have to make a complaint to the police. You must keep a copy of this complaint with you.
>> After this, apply for a new SIM card with the help of your telecom service provider. Take the new SIM card for the old number only.
>> Before applying on this web portal, you will need to keep your documents ready. It should contain a copy of police report, identity card. If you have a bill for this mobile, then also make it available.
>> After visiting this site, you have to fill a registration number so that IMEI can be blocked. Also new documents will have to be uploaded.
>> When you submit this form, you will get a request ID. With the help of this ID you can find out about your request status. With the help of this, you can use this IMEI number to unblock you in future.
