There is an important to check the ability of a person before making a decision to hand over the power of position. In Mahabharata, Bhishma tells a story to Darmaraja about changing the position of someone what it happens.

Once there was a maharishi who was very pious, good-natured and kind-hearted to all living beings. In his living space, there was a dog who gets fear of seeing the cheetah and tells the Maharishi to change like that cheetah because I am afraid that cheetah will eat me. Maharishi agrees and does the same later that cheetah gets fear of seeing the lion again asks to change it like a tiger. Later it wants to become like an elephant. And then it wants to become a lion. And then it wants to become like a sharable.

After it becomes like sharable, it thinks to eat maharishi. The good knowledge maharishi understood its mind thought and again changes it like a dog.

The moral of the story was the nature of the animal was remained in it. If we change somebody's position that doesn't matters because of their knowledge they won't get proper grace.
