Hardik Patel sent to judicial custody for escaping sedition case trial

Ahmedabad: Congress leader Hardik Patel has been arrested and sent to judicial custody till January 24 after he failed to appear before a trial court in Ahmedabad pertaining to a sedition case.
Patel was captured near Viramgam in Ahmedabad on Saturday after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him in the case.
In 2015, the Crime Branch booked him under sedition charges stating that he had urged his supporters to kill policemen rather than commit suicide for the cause of reservation.
However, Patel has denied all the allegations and asserted there was no evidence against him in the charge-sheet filed by the Crime Branch.
