Rs 640 Crore And Counting! That's How Much Akshay Kumar Has Contributed To The Industry In 2019 At The Box Office
This was the year of Akshay Kumar. Actually, every year has been his year as his films manage to gross at least the bare minimum to stay afloat if not the big numbers. But 2019 has been incredibly rewarding for him. With four hits in a row, the actor has managed to give to this industry Rs 641.39 crore and counting.
Akshay's formula is simple. He has figured out what was missing from the theatres and also, how to cash in on the recent trend. The first two films of the year, Kesari and Mission Mangal, were seeped in nationalistic fervour. He was rewarded heftily for that. But Akshay loves to keep all his fans happy, so there was a Housefull 4 and Good Newwz in the second half.
So let us tell you how Akshay managed to earn so much this year.

Kesari

Box Office: Rs 154.41 Crore

The film released during Holi and was a true story about 21 Sikh soldiers who fought off Afghans called the Battle Of Saragarhi. Akshay Kumar's played the leader of the gang. The film took a robust opening at the box office and continued to earn rich dividends.

Mission Mangal

Box Office: Rs 202.98 crore

Mission Mangal is again a true story about India's historic expedition to Mars and how it was carried out. It's a story of triumph and victory which got an instant connect with the audience. It thus became his biggest hit to date.

Housefull 4

Box office: Rs 205.6 Crore

Although the number here is disputed, Housefull 4 did make money for the industry. After a disastrous Diwali last year thanks to Thugs Of Hindostan, Housefull 4 did light up many lives. Akshay Kumar thus proved again that comedy and nationalism are two genres he can ace in the same year.

Good Newwz

Box Office: Rs 78.40 crore

Good Newwz is still at the theatres and is doing a fantastic business. The film will surely cross the Rs 100 crore mark by the first week which means yet another moneyspinner for Akshay Kumar.

It's really incredible to see an actor finding his calling and delivering exactly what his audience demands. Akshay Kumar has made a genre switch a lot of times in his over two decades old career but he has never been so successful. Hopefully, the streak will continue next year as well since the man has four releases next year too.
