Donald Trump recently applauded the Bollywood gay rom-com release Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan this week and the film’s lead actor Ayushmann Khurrana is happy to see the US President outreach towards the LGBTQ community.
Ayushmann tweeted on social media, “It was great to see a reaction from US President Donald Trump. I certainly hope and wish that this comment is President Trump’s gesture of outreach towards the LGBTQ community and that he will persistently and constantly work towards upholding LGBTQ rights in his country.”
Trump’s responded to a tweet by human rights campaigner and LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchell tweet, which praise for the Bollywood rom-com. The tweet read, “A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hurrah!” tweeted @PeterTatchell.
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan alongside Ayushmann also stared Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao. It is written and directed by debutant Hitesh Kewalya. The film clashed on hindi box office, with Vicky Kaushal’s Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship.
