PCG (PHONOCARDIOGRAM) is the graphical record of the heart sound. Here Cardio means the heart.
Auscultation: The technique of listening sound produced by organs and vessels of the body is known as auscultation.
Using PCG different types of heart sounds can be measured. These heart sounds are generated due to the vibrations set up in the blood inside the heart by the sudden closure of valves. In abnormal heart, additional sounds are heard between the normal heart sound. These additional sounds are called murmurs. Murmurs are generally caused by the improper opening of the valves or by regurgitation.

The microphone is used to convert heart sound into the electrical signals. Certain positions are recommended to pick up the heart sound by using a microphone. The electrical signal picked up by the microphone is amplified by the amplifier. The amplified output is given to filter.
