Coronavirus Deaths Climb To 100 In US, Trump Calls ‘COVID-19 A War With Invisible Army’

New Delhi:The number of deaths due to new coronavirus rose to hundred in United States, according to an AFP count using figures provided by state and county websites and officials. Maximum deaths were reported in Washington state, in the country’s northwest, where 50 people have lost their lives. New York was reported 12 deaths, while California saw lost of 11 lives.
Meanwhile, New York mayor Bill de Blasio has said the city’s 8.6 million inhabitants should prepare for being ordered to stay at home at any moment within the next 48 hours to help contain the coronavirus pandemic. Blasio told reporters on Tuesday that a decision had not been made but that New Yorkers could soon be confined to their residences, barring any essential travel.
“I think that all New Yorkers should be prepared right now for the possibility of a ‘shelter-in-place’ order,” the mayor said.
His comments came a day after San Francisco’s mayor announced a “remain-in-place” order restricting millions of Californians to their homes except for basic needs.

US President Donald Trump Calls Coronavirus A War Against Invisible Army
US President Donald Trump said the world is at war with the invisible army of the new coronavirus. He asserted that they would win the war.
The President repeated the expression multiple times on Tuesday, telling the nation that he was using all available resources to combat the challenge posed by the virus that has so far killed at least 100 people in the US and over 7,000 globally.
“The world is at war with a hidden enemy. WE WILL WIN!” Trump tweeted in the afternoon.
“We have to get rid of this, we have to win this war and ideally quickly,” he told reporters at a White House news conference.
Trump referred to the fight against the COVID-19 as a “war” again at a meeting with CEOs of the tourism industry.

“We have to help the airline industry. It wasn’t their fault. So we are adding it up. It will be fine. It will come back very quickly once we are finished with our war with the virus,” he said.
“We know your industry is among the hardest hit by the economic impact of the virus. Our goal is to beat the virus and we will. We call it the hidden virus, the hidden enemy, with aggressive action now so that we can rebound stronger than ever before and that is what we are doing and everyone is cooperating,” the President said.
