PM Modi Breaks Down After Paralysis-Hit Patient Says, ‘I Have Seen God In You’ – Watch

New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned emotional on live TV while interacting with beneficiaries during Jan Aushadi Diwas celebrations in New Delhi on Saturday. Talking to people across the country via video conferencing, the Prime Minister spoke on range of issues.

During the interaction programme, a beneficiary emotionally spoke about her stunning recovery from a paralytic attack. PM Modi broke down and was seen choking with emotions on live TV. Deepa Shah from Uttarakhand’s Dehradun is a beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana. She spoke about her hardships and how the government’s health plan helped her in her difficult times.

“I suffered a paralytic attack in 2011. Doctors had given up and had said that I won’t survive. I couldn’t talk due to paralysis. My monthly medical expenses were somewhere near Rs 9,000. But due to this scheme (Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana), not only did I live, my costs also went down due to generic medicines. Aapko Ishwar Ke roop mein dekha hai. (I have not seen God but I have seen God in you),” teary-eyed woman told the PM. At this point, PM Modi broke down.

There were other success stories also. There was a case of a Bharatiya Janaushadi Pariyojana Kendras in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi selling sanitary napkins for just Re 1.” I appeal to the state governments to ask their doctors to prescribe generic medicines,” PM Modi said. On coronavirus outbreak, PM Modi said that it was time to embrace Indian concept of ‘Namaste’. He also added that people should not pay heed to rumours but adhere to the guidelines provided by the doctors.

New Health Plan

“A network is being added to the Jan Ausadhi Kendras. It will feature quality-testing centers and distribution centers. Thousands of people are getting employment opportunities under the same,” PM Modi said. “We are trying to put a system in which no one has to go too far for medical facilities. Thus, health and wellness centers are being opened up in the entire country. New AIIMS, new hospitals and other facilities are being opened up,” he added.

On the success of the unique health programme, PM Modi said that, “Prices of over 1,000 medicines have been controlled and it has helped people all over the country. Close to Rs 12,500 crore have been saved by the common people. About 90 lakh poor have been provided free healthcare and treatment under Ayushman Bharat.”
