NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appealed to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid being infected with coronavirus, saying the world has not seen such a serious threat.
Calling for a 'Janata curfew' from 7 am to 9 am on March 22, he said any citizens, except those in essential services, should not be left home.
“World War I and World War II did not affect as many countries as the coronavirus did,” Modi said in a national broadcast.
Asking people to sacrifice "some of your weeks, some of your time", there is still no cure for coronavirus, the only way to stay safe is to stay home.
"I request all the people in the country to leave the house. Only when it is most needed, try and do all the work from home," he said.
