K Sivan is an Indian Scientist and Chairman of ISRO (Indian Space Research organization).
Born on 14 April 1957 in a village in Tamil Nadu. K Sivan was born in Mela Sarakkalvilai, near Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district Sivan was the first in his family to graduate from college.

He studied at a Tamil medium school and has often said he wore footwear for the first time only when he went at the Madras Institute of Technology.His parents are Kailasa Vadivu and mother Chellam. Sivan is known for his significant contribution to the development of cryogenic engines, for India's space programme.

Sivan graduated with a bachelors degree in engineering from Madras Institute of Technology in 1980.He then got a masters degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1982,and started working in ISRO.

He earned a doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2006.He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, the Aeronautical Society of India and the System Society of India.
He began his career working on the Polar Satellite launch Vehicle(PSLV), Indias space workhorse that has Launched Indias first lunar probe,chandrayaan-1,first interplanetary mission, the Mar orbiter, and India's first space observatory, Astrosat.

Rising through the ranks, Sivan became the director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, in 2015 and subsequently came to be called “Rocket Man” because of his contributions in the development of cryogenic engines.
The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark III- Indias most powerful rocket that successfully launched the Chandrayaan-2 mission in July- runs cryogenic engines.

Sivan was appointed the chief of ISRO in 15 January 2018.It is under his chairmanship that ISRO planned and executed Chandrayaan-2.The salary of ISRO chief is 2,50,000 per month.

Under his chairmanship,ISRO launched Chandrayaan-2,the second mission to moon on july 22,2019.The orbiter weight is 2379 and lander is 1471 kg and rover is 27 kg.In space science there is no failure we learn new thing about space from every journey. 95% of ISRO's mission is successful. Hope for the best in future of lander Vikram.
