Alligators are carnivorous reptiles which have changed very little since the prehistoric days when dinosaurs became extinct, the alligators continued to prosper.

Alligators are immune even to the bite of poisonous snakes. They have the estimated speed of up to 35 mph. Aiken drum quickly in short bursts.
Alligators swallow their food whole. Alligators do not sweat. Alligators regulate the temperature by moving from the sun to the shade. They rest with their mouths open to release the heat.

Alligators have a lifespan of approximately 30 years if they are in the wild and they live up to 50 years in captivity.
There are only two countries that have alligators: the United States and China. The Chinese alligator is endangered. It lives only in the Yangtze River Valley.

It is really a wonder that alligators, the prehistoric creature and the contemporaries of dinosaurs are not extinct!
