Among the many demands that Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri have voiced in their tenure is the cry for better salaries for Indian cricketers.
The Committee of Administrators, along with the BCCI, has obliged.
In an official mail, the CoA has announced a drastic increase in the annual contracts of members of the Indian cricket team, along with an all new category — the A+. Players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are all part of the new A+ category, and are now slated to earn a massive Rs 7 crore a year.
According to the previous contract, Shikhar Dhawan got place in A Plus Grade but this time he was removed from A Plus grade under the new contract and included in A grade.
Apart from Shikhar Dhawan in this grade, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant were inducted. All these players will be given Rs 5 crore annually.
Grade B: Rs 30 crore: Lokesh Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Yuswendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya.
Grade C: One crore: Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Hanuma Vihari, Khalil Ahmed and Riddhiman Saha.
