There is growing speculation in the cricket fraternity that the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held between October 18 and November 15, may be postponed due to travel restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, giving BCCI a window of opportunity to organize the IPL.
Two of the biggest cricketing events in the calendar year remains to be the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and the T20 Men’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in Australia from October-November. However, the novel coronavirus pandemic has shellshocked the whole world and have either cancelled or postponed many major sporting events to 2021.
But in the meantime, another cricket board of Sri Lanka has came forward to host the IPL this year. The ball is in the ICC court as the IPL 2020 depends on the ICC’s decision on the T20 World Cup.
