Betaal is a Netflix based web series by Patrick Grahman and Suhani Kanwar and directed by Patrick Graham and Nikhil Mahajan. It is basically a horror and zombie genre web series, released on 24 May 2020 on Netflix.
Actually, the story is about a British officer colonel John Lynedoch at the times of 1857 Revolt. He was a British colonel who wants to rule India. He believed in Black magic-related things, he began to summon the 'Betaal’ spirit and sacrificed as his soldiers to impress the 'Betaal’ spirit for power. But villagers somehow managed to trap the ‘Betaal' spirit and their possessed dead zombie-like soldier inside the tunnel.
These soldiers and their commander John Lynedoch were more like a zombie, they love human flesh and cannot think. These soldiers were controlled by colonel John who has the powers of 'Betaal'. When these zombies bite someone, he/she starts becoming like them and joins the army of John Lynedoch.
The web series 'Betaal' starts displaying a village where Adivasi people were summoning ‘Betaal' spirits and offer ‘Betaal' spirit with a bowl of blood. An old lady drinks the blood, as the Adivasi group believed that the old lady can make contact with 'Betaal' spirit, then that bowl of blood was offered to ‘Betaal’ idol. ‘Betaal’ showed visions about the opening of the tunnel where ‘Betaal' has been trapped since the Revolt of 1857. Then, the old lady warns Adivasi’s not to open that tunnel at any cost.
Muldhalvan, a Surya Construction engineer who took a contract from CM to construct a highway that will connect the village to the city, Villagers, or Adivasi’s was stopping workers to break the tunnel. Muldhalvan contacted Commander Tyagi for help. Then, Commander Tyagi along with CIPD officers arrives in villages and forced villagers to leave the village. They managed to open the tunnel, two officers entered into the tunnel, after some time their cam recording started to glitch out. The two officers came out of the tunnel in a half-eaten state. The zombie army of John Lynedoch attacked the survived officers along with Muldhalvan and his family.

They took shelter in an Old British Barrack, which was protected by some rituals done by Punia (villager). In the last scene, It seems the officer Sirohi killed John Lynedoch. But the story turns, they start attacking the city and conquering the world. Only one season has made yet with four episodes, the rest of the story will be revealed in upcoming seasons. These series do not receive positive reviews and failed to satisfy the audiences.
