Bollywood films have been the voice of the LGBTQIA community from time to time, but is this enough representation for them?
On this issue, filmmaker Onir told IANS, "Things haven't really changed in mainstream cinema. I don't consider characters playing LGBTQ issues in films. There should be a common way of seeing people in the community."
He went on to say, "LGBTQIA people should tell their own story. They should think how someone else is telling their story, which they should tell themselves?"
Artist Zeeshan Ali, who recently took part in the country's VH1 Virtual Pride Parade, feels that "we have just scratched the surface of the LGBTQA issue. Harish Iyer, who is fighting for the rights of the LGBT community, feels that "there are very few films related to the LGBTQIA community".
