Actress Urvashi Rautela's film 'Virgil Bhanupriya' is scheduled to release on Zee 5's digital platform on 16 July. His talks with Urmila Corey on this film, controversies related to it and many other issues…
How happy are you with the digital release of 'Virgin Bhanupriya'?
When this film was offered to me and the film was being shot, I did not think that it would not be released in the theater. The corona virus has completely closed the theater, so we had to go towards digital release. The film is releasing on July 16. I am happy with the digital release as this film will be seen in more than 200 countries simultaneously. This film of Zee Originals is done. If it is released on G5, it is going to get a lot of viewers.
What appealed to you in 'Virgin Bhanupriya'?
This is my second female-centric film after Hate Story for. Every actress wants her to be the axis of the film. She gets a very strong character. Virgin Bhanupriya has full responsibility for me. The film is for a family audience. Very funny story. Talking about virginity is considered as a stigma in our society. It will be talked about in this film. This social blessing is less social curse for those who are virgin today.
Why are you calling virginity a social curse?
I am not saying that it is wrong to be a virgin but there should be no pressure to remain a virgin. Do not be a burden on your head and remain a virgin. If the body is ours then it should be ours too. What will be the opinion of the other then after that we decide what we want. There is also a need to bring this subject out of narrow thinking. Love is what is the meaning of love. It should all be our personal opinion.
If women still talk about virginity in our society, then the debate starts, is your film for the family?
For this I am thankful to the director of my film. Whatever we have spoken in the film. They have not spoken openly. What is the power of cinema? You will get to see in this film. Whoever will be seen in the film, they have shot in a very sophisticated manner, due to which you can watch the entire film with the family.
A lot of negative is also being said about the film on social media.
I am very positive. I know the day the film will be released. They will know what the film is all about. The trailer has come. Many people have understood. Many people have not understood. People are criticizing only on social media. It is not so. People are also getting a lot of love. I always see the positive side.
You are from Uttarakhand, there has been a debate in the industry about these days outsiders.
I will always be great whatever opportunities I have got. I started my career with superstar Sunny Deol but the reality is that I had won the international titles. We met because of that. Our field is very demanding. There is always something going on. In this you need the support of friends and family, otherwise you can break. As outsiders, I can understand the trouble and pain of Sushant Singh Rajput that we have to constantly prove ourselves at every step. I would just request the industry that outsiders get a chance to compete. He also got good roles, good scripts.
How do you personally miss Sushant?
Sushant has been one of the best friends. We have met many times. Many moments have been very memorable. Once we went to the launch of a five star hotel. I remember there was a party in the evening. In it, Sushant told me to play his favorite song Coca Cola Tu me five to six times. Whatever memory she has with me, she has been a cool and happy person to Sushant. His departure is a big loss for the industry but most of all his family's loss.
