In the case of the Big N, nomination rumors surround proposals such as the already released Da 5 Bloods by Spike Lee and the imminent Mank by David Fincher and The Trial of the Chicago 7 by David Fincher , while Amazon relies on One Night in Miami ( Regina King's directorial debut ) and Apple is studying its possibilities. This last company, according to media such as IndieWire , seems to have placed its trust in Cherry .
And what movie is that? Well, Cherry is the new film directed by Joe and Anthony Russo after Avengers: Endgame , a crime drama starring Tom Holland that studies the ravages of war through a soldier who returns home. Apple has just acquired this film with a view to releasing it in early 2021 (before February 28 , which is when the nominee release period closes), and those in charge are very confident that Holland could compete in the Best Actor category .
Marvel's MCU's Spider-Man has been under the command of the Russos in three films in the franchise including his debut ( Captain America: Civil War ), and recently shocked Netflix audiences with a portentous performance in The Devil a all hours . As for the protagonist of Cherry (which is based on a novel by Nico Walker ), Joe Russo has stated that "it is an Oscar-worthy performance . "

" Cherry is in the hands of Apple Original Films, as is another possible contender for the awards: On the rocks , the new comedy of Sofia Coppola for which has met with Bill Murray .
