Ashtavinayaka : The 8 different forms of Lord Ganesha
Ashtavinayaka means all 8 different forms of god Ganesha or Ganpati. All these 8 are having distinct trunk style. The 8 different Ashtavinayakas are - Shree Mayureshwara, Shree Siddhivinayaka, and Shree Mahayan pati. MAYURESHWARA
Lord Mayureshwara is situated 65 kms away from Pune city in Morgan village. It is considered as the start and end point of Ashtavinayaka pilgrimage. It is believed that, one should start the pilgrimage from this temple and should come back again after visiting all 8 Ganeshas so as to complete the one.
SIDDHIVINAYAKA
This is the only murti out of these 8 with the Ganesha trunk placed in right. It is believed that the two saints Shri Morya Gosavi and Shri Narayan Maharaj of Kedgaon received their enlightenment here.
Temple is situated off the Pune-Solapur highway about 48 km from the town of Srigonda in Ahmadnagar district.
BALLALESHWARA
It is located in the village of Pali which is at a distance of 28 km from Roha in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. It is situated between fort Sarasgad & the river Amba.
VARADVINAYAKA
It is located in Mhad village situated in Kalapur Taluka near Karjat and Khopoli of Raigad district. But the place i.e. Mhad village comes under Pune district. It is close to Lonavala and Panvel.
CHINTAMANI
It is located in Theur village almost 25 kms from Pune. Theur is located in the Haveli Taluka of Pune district and near the confluence of river Bhima and the conjoint river Mula.
GIRIJATMAK
Lenyandri also called as Ganesha Leni represents a series of 30 rock cut caves located 4.8 kms North of Junnar in Pune district.
VIGHNESHWARA
Located in Ozar, 85 kms away from Pune off Pune Nasik highway, Vighneshwara is the other form of Ganesha with trunk position to left.
MAHAGANPATI
It is located in Ranjangaon, almost 50 kms away from Pune. The temple was built between the 9th and 10th century. The main temple looks like it was built in the Peshwa period. It is the 8th, the last one in the list of Ashtavinayaka Ganpati.
