Capcom has some bad news for PC fans looking forward to the next-gen features featured in the recently released Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5.
Fans have been excited about the new content Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will bring a few more weeks. In addition to finally making the Vergil played on DMC 5, it will introduce the following-gen features like Turbo Mode that speeds up the game with a new difficulty option that increases the number of enemies on the screen. The game will come with ray tracking support to give the game the next-gen sheen, but it turns out that this feature will not be available on PC.
As the name suggests, radiation tracking uses radiation to forcefully calculate how light interacts with various objects in a 3D space. Increasingly, technology is becoming the key to compressing video game graphics in the future, and Capcom has never been shy about showing how it will improve DMC 5 visibility in the Special Edition. The publisher released a short video this week highlighting how radiation tracking will make light sources and signals more powerful than possible in current-gen programs.
This is something most high-end PCs can handle, but Capcom has made it clear that the Special Edition will not be available on any platform other than PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. PC, PS4, and Xbox One Versions will find Vergil as a DLC, but apart from that, some new features such as gameplay changes, high framerate, enhanced adjustments, and, of course, ray tracking will only be in the comfort of November.
Xbox Series X, so we're focused on these platforms," a Capcom spokesman told Eurogamer. currently, there are no plans to uninstall DMC 5 SE from PC. "
The news was not well received among the PC community of DMC 5, and, as one might expect, players have been letting their frustration be known through a review-blasting game on Steam. Most of these hit very similar notes, but the point is that players feel betrayed by Capcom, and have no real reason to leave the PC platform out of the cold like this.
Eurogamer has reached out to get more comments. As of this writing, however, a response has yet to be received from Capcom, so it remains to be seen whether the publisher will reconsider his decision to limit Special Edition comfort at any time in the near future, due to a backlash.
Devil Can Cry 5: Special Edition will be released digitally as the theme for the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
