After Fantastic Beasts 2 had to take a lot of criticism and in terms of grossing it became the weakest film in the Harry Potter universe , those responsible around JK Rowling, David Yates and producer David Heyman took more time to develop Part 3.
The story of Fantastic Beasts 3 set in the Harry Potter world is slowly picking up speed again. Expectations are now booming that the sequel Hogwarts gamekeeper could bring Hagrid back for an appearance as a child .

Due to the suddenly longer preparation time, the shooting of Fantastic Beasts 3 was delayed from summer to autumn 2019 and then even to spring 2020.
Instead of the planned start in November 2020, this paved the way for a postponed cinema release in November 2021 , which broke with Harry Potter traditions . Jacob actor Dan Fogler reassured the fans that the delay would be worthwhile because the sequel would be "gigantic". Theseus actor Callum Turner finally revealed a production start in February 2020 , which then moved to March.

With the outbreak of the pandemic, however, shooting was canceled in the spring before it could begin. A new shooting date was set for mid-October . The official US theatrical release is currently still on November 12, 2021.
