Gotham Knights is more like Marvel's Spider-Man than the Arkham Series in one way

The Gotham Knights deviates from Arkham's games by building something more collaborative, such as Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4.

Batman's next game was recently unveiled by Gotham Knights from Warner Bros Montreal. While many footballers were optimistic about Batman Arkham's continuation of the series, Gotham Knights looks set to go the other way with his canon position different from that of Arkham games (you should add that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League following Arkham's sequel). Gotham Knights follows in the footsteps of four Bat Family characters: Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batgirl, who take the robe off of Batman, who is reportedly dead.

Superhero games have been quality over the years, but one of the highlights in recent years has been Marvel's Spider-Man. While Batman and Spider-Man can emerge from the comedy venues, it looks like Gotham Knights is pulling a leaf out of Marvel's Spider-Man play in some way.

New York City Vs Gotham City

spider-man ps4 new york city

One of the main reasons Marvel's Spider-Man on the PS4 is so immersed due to its fully integrated New York City world. Spider-Man’s Manhattan is well-designed, with well-known locations such as the Empire State Building and Central Park. But what made the city feel so much better was the level of interaction Spider-Man had with everyday citizens. The city became another character in the game because of the crowds roaming the streets of New York, as well as Spider-Man's ability to communicate with these citizens at any time during the game.

On the flip side, Gotham City in the Arkham games were often without regular citizens for organizational reasons. This meant that the city did not have any innocent people who could get in the way, but they left Gotham feeling alone and threatening, especially as there were only criminals and enemies left on the streets. It looks like the Gotham Knights are moving away from this route through the highly collaborative Gotham City. In the first game of the game from the Gotham Knights, it can definitely be seen that Gotham is very much alive with cars on the road and residents on the streets. The game clip also shows that the people of Gotham are responding to the storytelling events of the game, which means that the player has every reason to stop the crime before injuring innocent civilians.

Bringing Gotham City to Life: Time Passes by

Where Arkham games always take place on the longest night of Batman's career, Gotham Knights' timeline will take a long time. WB Montreal seems to be focused on allowing players to transform their different characters from start to finish. To make this even more realistic, the game will take place overnight, perhaps even weeks or months, of night walking and crime. Marvel’s Spider-Man is a good example of this as time can be shown passing through both environmental programs and game narratives.

Providing a wide timeline for players to develop and nurture their characters should help encourage further exploration in the Gotham Knights as players will not feel the pressure to complete news events until they are ready. Some very good news is that Gotham Knights will follow Spider-Man's lead by not imitating the level of missions in the game.

Home Foundation

Along with a long queue is the launch of the home harp program, the Gotham Knights confirmed by Belfry. Arkham Games introduced some of Batman's most secure locations, such as the Clock Tower, Batcave, or GCPD. But these places have never been anything but cuts or gadget retrieval sites and have never provided players with any communication. Marvel’s Spider-Man has many home bases that players can return to such as Peter Parker’s apartment, the F.E.A.S.T building or the Octavius Laboratory that provides players with interactive hints and mini-puzzles to complete.

Belfry in Gotham Knights is an opportunity for players to return to a safe house at the end of their night of crime, and it may provide a place to communicate or exchange playable characters. We hope that Belfry will also offer the same level of collaboration as Marvel's Spider-Man and give players more influence on the Bat Family's progress through development, costume, and gadgets.

Gotham Knights will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X by 2021.
