Vegetable chop! This is a Bengali street food which is very famous in Kolkata and other parts of Bengal. Tried recreating it and it tasted yum! So Let's see its delicious recipe!
- 3 medium beetroots or 1 and 1/2 cup beetroot in cubes
- 1 cup carrot (cut into medium cubes)
- 3 medium-sized potatoes
- 1/2 inch ginger or ginger paste
- 1 green chili
- a handful of dry roasted peanuts
- 2 tbsp sugar(as per taste)
- 1 tbsp oil
- salt(as required)
Ingredients for Baja Masala:
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 4 green cardamom
- 1/2 tsp amchur or dry mango powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp black salt
- 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
- 8 peppercorns
- 1 or 2 red chilies (as per taste)
- 6 tbsp maida
- 1 cup bread crumbs
Method:
1. Blend all the ingredients to make the Baja masala in a blender and make a fine powder and keep the Baja masala aside. Firstly steam the vegetables and mash smooth.
3. Furthermore, add 3 tbsp roasted & crushed peanuts, 2 tbsp coriander. Mix well, prepare cylindrical shape vegetable mixture. Dip in maida paste coating all over, then roll in breadcrumbs. Now deep fry in hot oil or bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celcius for 15 minutes.
