First look of 'The Mother of the Blues', Chadwick Boseman's latest film,Here's what you should know

Netflix has released the first images of The Mother of the Blues, an adaptation of the homonymous work by August Wilson and the last film shot by Chadwick Boseman. Directed by George C. Wolfe and set in 1927 Chicago, the film stars Boseman as trumpeter Levee and Viola Davis as blues singer and mother Ma Rainey.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Davis and Denzel Washington, the film's producer, spoke about Boseman, who passed away in August of colon cancer.

"He did a brilliant job, and now he's gone," Washington said: "I still can't believe it."
"An actor of Chadwick's status usually comes along, and his ego comes before him," Davis said: "But Chadwick would take away whatever ego he had, whatever vanity he had, and let Levee in."

The actress also assured that she knew nothing about her partner's illness during filming:

“I remember how tired he always seemed. I remember her wonderful team, who always meditated and massaged her, and now I realize how much they tried to instill in her to keep her working at that level ”.

A few days ago, Sienna Miller also touched on Boseman, with whom she worked on one of her latest projects, Dead End Manhattan. Apparently, when the film's producers wanted to save a few dollars on the actress's salary, the Black Panther interpreter gave up part of his own salary.

“I said I would make the movie if I was paid properly. And Chadwick ended up donating part of his salary so that I could collect the amount I wanted, " Miller said.
