KXIP vs MI: Punjab, Mumbai beat by 48 runs in Pollard-Pandya storm

 

Mumbai Indians have defeated Kings XI Punjab by 48 runs on the basis of Rohit Sharma's brilliant half-century and Atiran innings of Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya in the last overs. With this, Mumbai's team has reached the number one position in the point table of IPL season 13.

Mumbai Indians came out to bat first after losing the toss and scored 191 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Punjab team came out to bat, scoring only 143 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Bumrah bowled brilliantly, taking two wickets for 18 in 4 overs. Apart from him, Rahul Chahar and James Pattinson took 2-2 wickets. At the same time, Trent Bold and Krunal Pandya got 1–1 wickets.

Mumbai innings

Mumbai started off poorly. Sheldon Cottrell also did not allow Quinton de Cock to open the account and sent the pavilion to the fifth ball of the first over. Mumbai scored 25 runs in the last over when Pollard hit 3 consecutive sixes off Krishnappa Gautam's last 3 balls. Pollard and Pandya scored 19 runs in the 19th over and 18 runs in the 18th over.

Mumbai's score was 87 for 3 at the end of the 14th over, but Pollard and Rohit increased the pace by scoring Ravi Bishnoi with a 1-1 six in the 15th over. Rohit scored 21 runs in 16th over of Jimmy Neesham.

Punjab bowling

Great bowling started from Punjab. Cottrell, who gave 5 sixes in an over in the last match, bowled very disciplined today. In the first over, Cottrell bowled a maiden over with 1 wicket. After this, other bowlers kept constant pressure on Mumbai. This was the reason that in the initial 10 overs, Mumbai's team could only score 62 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. But in the last overs, the news of Punjab bowlers was fiercely taken. From Punjab, Cottrell was the most successful bowler for 20 runs at an average of 5 in 4 overs. 

Apart from them, Shami and K Gautam took 1-1 wickets. James Nisham proved to be the most expensive for Punjab. He scored 52 runs in 4 overs. At the same time, K Gautam gave 45 runs in 4 overs and Ravi Bishnoi gave 37 runs in 4 overs. Punjab batting

Kings XI Punjab started the chase after chasing a target of 192 runs. Captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal scored 33 runs in the first three overs without losing wickets. However, Punjab got the first blow in the form of Mayank Agarwal on the 5th ball of the 5th over. He was bowled clean by Bumrah.

Bumrah has given Punjab a sixth blow. He got Neesham caught by Suryakumar. James Neesham was dismissed for 7 runs. Pattinson made Sarfaraz Khan his victim in the 18th over. Sarfaraz scored 7 runs. With this, all the hopes of Punjab also ended.

Ravi Bishnoi was dismissed by 1 run in the 19th over. Trent Bolt showed them the way to the pavilion. Punjab's team could score 143 runs in 8 overs in 20 overs.
