Two women scientists receive this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry!

This year's Nobel Prize for Chemistry will be given jointly to two women scientists, Emmanuel Carpentiè and Jennifer A. Doudna, for the 'Gnome editing'. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences stated on Wednesday, saying that the two scientists have developed CRISPR-CAS 9, an important tool for gene technology, named genetic caesars.

C. Gustafsson, chairman of the Nobel Committee on Chemistry, said that both scientists have made the important discovery of genetic Caesar. Through this, by changing the DNA of animals, plants, microorganisms, treatment of serious diseases will be possible. Mr. Gustafson said, "This will allow changes in the DNA of animals, plants and microbes." This will help cure many serious and genetic diseases including cancer.

Ms. Carpentia and Ms. Doudna, who received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, are the fifth and sixth female scientists respectively. A total of 112 scientists have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry from the years 1901 to 2019. Ms. Carpentieri is a director of the Max Planck Unit for Science of Pathogens in Berlin, and Ms. Doudna works at the University of California.
