There is an intense fight amongst the eight teams to reach the playoffs. After eleven matches being played in this IPL season there is no conclusive result of which team has qualified for playoffs. Every team is still mathematically in the tournament. But if we look at the points table and run rate the top three teams are Mumbai Indians , Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capital. These three teams just need one win and they are in playoffs. Whereas there are two teams that are in hunt for the fourth place in playoffs, they are:
Kolkata Knight Riders:
The performance of KKR has not been up to the mark this season they have alternatively won and lost matches. They have played 12 matches out of which 6 they have won and 6 they have lost. Still there hopes to be in the playoffs are alive. They have 2 matches in hand , if they win these 2 matches they will qualify for the playoffs.
Kings XI Punjab:
The team started their campaign with disappointing loss against Delhi Capitals. But since the return of Chris Gayle in the 8th Match against Royal Challengers Bangalore the team has been winning matches consistently. They have played 12 matches out of which 6 they have won and 6 they have lost. Still there 2 matches remaining from their side to be played. If they play the remaining 2 matches with same consistency and win them , then they are surely in the playoffs.
There is a tight competition between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab for the fourth place in playoffs. Both have same number of points but as per the run rate Kings XI have been placed in fourth position currently and Knight Riders are in fifth position. The opponents of both these teams in remaining two matches are Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Will the fourth team would be Kolkata Knight Riders or Kings XI Punjab that we will come to know in their upcoming matches.
