Orchid children, who are them? What are orchid children? How are they different from normal children? Are orchid children rare? What are dandelion children? Why do we differentiate children into these subcategories? Orchid children, the term has been coined by child psychology scientists, Ellis and Boyce and according to their research on several children, based on their behavioural patterns to the surrounding environment, they can be categorised as orchid or dandelion groups.

We know that orchids are very rare to grow at all places, and it requires a lot of patience and efforts to grow these beautiful bulbs, that grow well at colder climates and require many efforts to yield beautiful and exotic varieties of orchids. These cannot withhold pressure and temperature changes and can wilt or die without proper care. The same applies to orchid children. These type of children are highly sensitive and show high fluctuations in behaviours in response to any external circumstances. Whereas on the other hand dandelion children are highly resilient children which can cope up well with any circumstances and appear normal in highly stressful circumstances, just like the freedom found wild dandelion plants that flower without any proper care and attention.

The studies have proved that children respond differently when put in any situation that is against their development. Like a stressful situation at home, may highly impact the potential of any child. As children respond to whatever they see, from the environment and adapt themselves, sometimes, during a highly stressful environment, the children can become highly negative or cannot grow properly, keeping feelings to themselves. It's very common phenomena and most of the houses may have some orchid children, who are highly sensitive. The problem is, their behaviour changes from good to worse and can hinder their social and emotional growth! Parents generally overlook the causes that are psychologically affecting the child and hence, these children can get affected and can hinder their growth. Whereas the dandelion children, have virtually no effect to the outer surrounding, and they don't change or show significant behavioural changes, dandelion children are considered as normal children and even more stronger than orchid children.

The amount of love and care needed to make blooms out of an orchid child is the duty of parents as they need to properly care the needs of such children with more friendly and warm approach. They need lots of attention, as they are highly gifted children and have more capabilities than a dandelion child, provided they are understood and cared for. They require more love and sincerity, as these children on proper guidance has the power of motivation and can glow even in the darkest situation but they need a lot of time and understanding from their parents. The child psychology can tell many things about the children behaviours and it requires lots of perseverance and patience to build a close bonding between yourself and your children. Knowing their needs and adjusting according to their will can be an answer.

Orchid children are much demanding and can have mood swings if they aren't heard properly. A close bond has to be built, do as to let them bloom and it requires a lot of parenting abilities. Knowing your child and making them feel special, doing things to make them happy, happy tours with them, gifting them with their favourite toys, creating a pleasant environment and creating a happy space to let them grow can be some of the ideas can make parenting more interesting.
