Barbara Carrera is a retired Nicaraguan-American actress and former model, best known for her work in films such as "Never Say Never Again", "Point of Impact", and "The Island of Dr. Moreau".

Carrera was born on December 31, 1945, in Bluefields, Nicaragua. She was raised in a wealthy family and spent most of her childhood in Nicaragua and the United States. She began her career as a model, appearing on the covers of major magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in the 1960s.

Carrera made her film debut in 1972 in the western film "The Kings of the Sun". She went on to appear in a number of films throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including "The Island of Dr. Moreau" (1977), "Embryo" (1976), and "Condorman" (1981).

In 1983, Carrera starred as the villainous Fatima Blush in the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again". The film was a commercial success and helped to establish Carrera as a leading actress in Hollywood. She continued to work in film and television throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but her career began to slow down in the early 2000s.

In addition to her acting career, Carrera has been involved in various charitable causes, including animal rights and environmental conservation. She has also worked as a writer and artist, publishing a book of poetry and exhibiting her artwork in galleries.

Carrera has been married and divorced three times. She currently resides in Florida, where she spends much of her time painting and practicing yoga.
