Kuldhara- A haunted village in Rajasthan
Kuldhara is an abandoned village in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. Once considered as prosperous village is now believed to be a haunted place.
Lying 17 km west of Jaisalmer, Kuldhara has a story. It used to be a prosperous village inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins. According to legend the evil eyes of Salim Singh , the powerful minister of the state fell on the eyes of the daughter of village head and he desired to marry her by force. Instead of submitting the villagers held a council and people of 85 villages left their ancestral homes and vanished. But before leaving they cursed that no one will ever be able to settle in the village in future. Till now , the village remains barren , it is still now in the same condition as left by the the villagers many decades ago.
It is said that people who have tried to stay there at night heard eerie sounds or were either chased away by strange paranormal activities.
