The Guru and the disciple used to have a special bond in ancient ages. Guru Purnima observed every year on the full moon day of 'Ashadha' month is actually worship of Guru i.e. spiritual or academic teacher by means of expressing gratitude.
This spiritual tradition is observed by Hindu, Jain and Buddhist communities in India, Nepal and Bhutan.In Nepal, Guru Purnima is celebrated as National Holiday.
This holy day is also celebrated as 'Vyasa Purnima' in the honor of Vyasa Deva, one of the greatest ancient sages in Hindu tradition.
