This year, we saw the rise and fall of the most prominent tycoons of all time. The most-awaited Forbes India Rich List 2019 is finally here. The past year has been a challenging one for India's "wealth creators" as these business moguls saw their total wealth dropping by a margin of 8 per cent. While some of the business industrialists have a found a place in the top 100 slots, some have dropped down the list.

The owner of Reliance Industries Limited and the business magnate, Mukesh Ambani, is just invincible. The 62-year-old tycoon is always ahead of other Indian billionaires. With a net worth of $51.4 billion (around Rs 3.7 lakh crore), Ambani has retained his top position for the 12th year in a row.

This year, he added $4.1 billion to his net worth, owing to the massive reach of Jio. The three-year-old telecom unit of his Reliance Industries, Jio, has become one of India's biggest mobile carriers with 340 million subscribers. We are proud to have such a powerful man in our country, who has the right sense of business and contributed extensively to the Indian economy.

Apart from the bigwigs who secure top positions consecutively in the list, there are six new entrants as well. The debutants include Byju's Founder and CEO, Byju Raveendran at No. 72. The edtech unicorn BYJU’s has earned him an annual wealth of $1.91 billion. The other new faces include Manohar Lal and Madhusudan Agarwal (Haldiram Snacks) at No. 86, and Sandeep Engineer (Astral Poly Technik) at No. 98.

1.    Azim Premji saw a sharp fall this year and fell from No. 2 to No. 17. He gave away around INR 15 Lakh crore to charity and $7.5 billion worth of his shares in Wipro to his philanthropic foundation.
2.    Billionaires who made a comeback to the list include K. Dinesh (co-founder of Infosys), Rajju Shroff (UPL), Mofatraj P Munot (Kalpataru Group and Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd.), and S.D. Shibulal (CEO of Infosys)
3.    Gautam Adani jumped eight spots to become the second-richest person in India.
