South superstar Rajinikanth celebrates his 69th birthday on December 12th. Describing Rajinikanth, it is commonly said that "Thalaiva doesn't age, time does."

Over the years Rajinikanth has acquired a status which is no less than that of a God. Superstar Rajinikanth’s popularity is not restricted to India alone, neither are memes and GIFs featuring the actor.

On the professional front, Rajinikanth was last seen in the Tamil film Petta. The actor will be featured next in AR Murugadoss' Darbar, which also stars Nayanthara as the female lead. The film's poster and first song are out already. Darbar will see Rajinikanth in a policeman's uniform after 25 years. The first look has elements from a cop's uniform - belt, shoes, and cap - as well as handcuffs and guns. Before this, he was seen as a cop in films like Moondru Mugam, Pandian and Kodi Parakuthu.
The film will have a festive release in January during Pongal. Along with the original in the Tamil language, the film will also be dubbed out in Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam.
