Iran fires dozen missiles at 2 US navy bases in Iraq. Then a warning
The US branch of defence tested that Iran launched greater than a dozen ballistic missiles towards its military and coalition forces at two bases in Iraq Tuesday evening US japanese time (early Wednesday morning in India).
There have been no reviews of casualties yet. The United States has shut to 6,000 troops in Iraq, to fight the Islamic State, or what remains of it, and teach Iraqi forces.
“All is well,” US President Trump'>Donald Trump wrote on Twitter late on Tuesday. “Missiles launched from Iran at two army bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking area now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and properly outfitted navy somewhere in the world, by using far! I will be making a announcement tomorrow morning.”
The President had gone into a huddle with his pinnacle national protection officials quickly after the assaults had been confirmed, amidst speak of the United States responding to these strikes. Defence secretary Mark Esper and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had been viewed driving into the White House. There was once speculation that President Trump should address the nation, which, it used to be expected, could include the subsequent steps, the large retribution that he has been threatening in remarks and tweets in current days. Late in the evening the White House said there won’t be any tackle by Trump or any other US official.
“If Iran does whatever that they shouldn’t be doing, they’re going to be suffering the consequences, and very strongly,” President Trump had instructed newshounds before in the day when asked if the United States used to be prepared for retaliatory military motion from Iran to the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force (IRGC), He had before warned of a “very quickly and very hard” response from the United States, hitting fifty two targets, which would include cultural sites, something that he has had to drop under stress from critics.
Confirming the attacks, the US branch of defence spokesman Jonathan Hoffman had stated “it is clear that these missiles had been launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi army bases hosting US military and coalition personnel at Al-Assad and Irbil.” These bases, he added, had been “on excessive alert due to indicators that the Iranian regime deliberate to attack our forces and interests in the region”.
Tasnim News, an Iranian information outlet carefully linked to the IRGC, stated the IRGC had fired “tens” of rockets in an operation dubbed “Operation Martyr Soleimani” (CNN suggested from Tehran the strikes were called “Operation Harsh Revenge”), to avenge the assassination of General Soleimani. The IRGC also put US allies on notice. “We warn all allied countries of the US that if assaults are launched from bases in their international locations on Iran, they will be a goal of military retaliation.”
Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter, “Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense beneath Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack in opposition to our residents & senior officers had been launched.”
“We do no longer are seeking escalation or war, but will defend ourselves in opposition to any aggression.”
But chances of de-escalation of tensions between the two facets appeared bleak. “Efforts to de-escalate crisis off to a terrible start with US denying Iranian FM a visa and Iran launching missiles at US base,” Richard Haas, the head of Council on Foreign Relations, a suppose tank, wrote on Twitter. “If each facet thinks it is better positioned to dominate as matters escalate and that the different will back down first we are in for a dangerous confrontation.”
The US has refused visa to Foreign Minister Zarif to tour to New York to attend a UN Security Council meeting.

  1. For a short period of time a lot has been happening with the US and Iran. First would be the US visa denials being imposed by the US to the Iranian delegates then the death of General Qassem Soleimani which have angered the nation and many people. Now the tension have escalated to war causing a lot of damages in Iran. It's still unknown whether both countries will be able to come into terms to end the war.
