Pune astronomers find hydrogen ring around galaxy 260mn light-yrs away
Pune’s NCRA astronomers discovered a galaxy with a ‘mysterious’, starless and neutral ring of hydrogen gas around it, about 260 million light-years away from Earth. The ring was found to be much bigger than the galaxy, with a diameter four times bigger than that of Milky Way. NCRA’s Omkar Bait, Yogesh Wadadekar and five others were part of the discovery.
