Janmashtami celebrations among Indians and its significance

As we know that this festival is celebrated by hindu's as a birthday celebration of Lord Krishna. Krishna was born from Devaki and Vasudeva.

On this occasion people celebrate by exchanging sweets and there are number of celebrations which are a part of this. On the day prior to this people sing devotional songs of krishna all night.
Moreover, people play in a krishna lila or rasa lila these are known as dance drama events. This is mostly celebrated by South Indian states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil nadu and many more. On the day of birthday anniversary people play in competitions like 'Dahi handi' and enjoys the happiness with their loved ones.

This festival have a significance because Little krishna used to steel yogurt and butter from the nearby houses with his friends. Therefore, all the people celebrate it by making teams to destroy the pot made of clay. Pot is kept high so it will be little difficult to hit the target. Therefore,it is the famous festival among Indians and celebrated with doing many activities all around the India.
