Burhanpur is about 80 kilometers from Khandwa. It is said that Ashwatthama comes to the Shiva temple of Asirgarh every day to worship God first. It is said that after bathing in the pond present in the fort, Ashwatthama worships in the Shiva temple. The special thing is that this pond located in the fort built on the top of this mountain does not dry even in the scorching heat. A little ahead of the pond is the temple of Gupteshwar Mahadev. The moat remains all around. It is also said that there is a secret road in one of the trenches built around the temple, which goes directly to the temple via Khandwa district. While going through this path, go inside the Ashwatthama temple and offer prayers.

It is also said that in addition to Asirgarh, Ashwatthama wanders along the banks of the Gauri Ghat (Narmada River) in Jabalpur city of Madhya Pradesh. Many times he asks people for turmeric and oil to stop the blood flowing from his brain wound. The elders of this village say that whoever has seen Ashwatthama, his mental balance gets disturbed.
