Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today that the nation wide lockdown will be extended till 3rd of May. Looking into the situation this decision was taken in agreement of all Chief Ministers. Extending the lockdown is important to eradicate this pandemic from India completely. But, as the lockdown is stretched and the implementation of this lockdown will be done in a more strict manner, there are certain things which a citizen can do to contribute to our country in this tough situation.
Citizen should first of all stop wasting food. In such crucial times when people are starving due to unavailability of food. Most of us are still being inconsiderate and wasting away food. Please prepare only as much food as you can consume. And if you have some extra food, don't unnecessarily load your plate and them dump the food in garbage, rather give that food to someone in need.
It is the responsibility of the learned and privileged people to educate the illiterate and underprivileged people about the current situation in our country. Explain the gravity of the situation, the myths and facts related to this pandemic to your house help before sending them on leave. Tell them to follow the rules of lockdown with strictness. Help the needy with basic supplies like food, sanitizer and mask. They have very limited resources to support themselves and their families, so helping even a single family will be a very big act of kindness.
Despite the country being locked down, the supply of essential services has not been stopped. All the essential service are up and running so that the citizens should not face any inconvenience. But, despite repeated instructions from the Prime Minister, people are engaging in panic buying. They are overstocking products not realizing that their overstocked items may cause inconvenience to people who are actually in need of those products. So, buy only what is essential for you and your family.

People think that charity can only be done by donating a large amount to an organization. But, infact you can do charity by giving the salary to your house help despite them not being able to work for you due to lockdown. See it as a small donation to them and their families. You can also donate to PM relief fund as much as you can to help the nation in fighting this difficult situation.
