Every day, coronavirus cases are hitting new records. In the last 24 hours, 11,929 new coronavirus cases were reported — the largest single-day spike — and 311 deaths occurred during this period.
After the Health Ministry’s latest bulletin, the total number of infections across the country has crossed 3.2 lakh with a death toll of over 9,000.
In the national capital Delhi, the number of cases has now increased to 38,958, 22,742 of which are active cases.
In order to avoid deteriorating health structure in Delhi, all nursing homes with a capacity of 10 to 49 beds have been declared as corona hospitals.
It is feared that the infections in Delhi have become uncontrollable. In view of the situation, the Delhi High Court has again postponed the proceedings of the subordinate courts in Delhi till June 30. Only urgent matters will be heard via video conferencing.
Apart from Delhi, the situation is getting worse in Uttar Pradesh where the number of coronavirus cases has crossed 13,000.
Uttar Pradesh has become the fifth coronavirus-affected state in the country. Rajasthan is sixth with 12,401 cases and West Bengal is at the seventh spot with 10,698 cases. In Madhya Pradesh too, the number of coronavirus cases has crossed the 10,000-mark.
Punjab witnessed a large exodus from abroad, but the State has been successful to a great extent in preventing the infections.
State Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said that maximum COVID-19 testing is needed to stem cases.
Amarinder Singh announced that at present 11,000 corona tests are being conducted in the State every day and this capacity will be increased to 20,000 in the next two weeks.
The Delhi government has also written a letter to the Central Government demanding to increase the capacity of corona tests in the capital.
