It happens while in the US there is no news that theaters in key areas such as New York and Los Angeles are reopening, and the other big Hollywood studios ponder what to do next. Universal, in turn and as recorded Deadline , has already moved tab: the reboot of Candyman (or, as described, the "spiritual sequel" of the horror film 1992) has canceled the release of this October 16 to be postponed to 2021 , on a new date yet to be clarified.

The film directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II proposed, according to its trailers , to give the mysterious character a racial rereading, based on a script by Jordan Peele . Fans of the genre, however, will have to wait until next year to see the results.

With the delay of Candyman , the harvest of great premieres for the remainder of 2020 continues to decline, keeping in recent months (for now) the dates of films such as Death on the Nile, Black Widow, No Time to Die, Soul, Free Guy, Croods 2 and the aforementioned Dune and Wonder Woman 1984. It is possible that, due to a health crisis with no signs of abating, many of them will follow Candyman and relocate in 2021.
