Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon prequel coming in 2022? Here's everything you need to know!

After the end of Game of Thrones, HBO decided to give the green light to a spin-off that will be called House of the Dragon. This prequel will tell the story of the Targaryens, the imposing house of nobles that conquered Westeros for 300 years until its terrible fall at the hands of a revolution. Although the existence of this new fiction was known for a long time, now it has been announced when we will finally see it on the small screen.

This fiction, unlike the first spin-off that was developed but was canceled after a pilot, received a direct order from HBO to continue working on it. This means that, without seeing having seen the first episode, the network still decided that there is a lot of potential in the story and prefers to move on and launch its first season as quickly as possible. This is probably because the author of the novels on which this franchise and House of the Dragon is based, has a whole book on the dragon tamer family.

At the moment, the tentative date is 2022 and there is no specific day yet. In this way, House of the Dragon will be able to be filmed throughout the coming year and the team will be able to take the time to produce an excellent quality product.

With respect to its plot, few details have already been confirmed. The truth is that the history of the Targaryen house is very long, since originally these characters conquered the kingdoms of Westeros under the command of King Aegon I and his dragon Balerion and, in turn, also dominated that territory for 300 years before the events of the original series.
