, there’s a current plan within the WWE to run another edition of the WWE Draft in October. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter was the source to inform that WWE initially wanted it to go down in August.
Latest Plans On WWE Draft Returning In October 2020
Now they report that the date would be too soon it could have messed up the SummerSlam plans. The WWE Draft was then shifted to September, but then they moved it to late August. Meanwhile, Payback pay-per-view was scheduled on August 30th and thus it was again pushed back.
“Last week the idea was late August, but then with the second PPV show on 8/30, they figured to wait until after that. So then it was moved to October which is where it is this week, but can easily change like everything does.”
So the current plan is to place the WWE Draft remains in October, which was previously reported. There would be two separate dates with one Draft show for RAW and another one for SmackDown. This is how things go down in the usual shake up things on the main roster.
The planning of the WWE Draft originally came up due to the dealing TV ratings in the recent past. These kinds of trades among superstars, typically do better in the ratings for that week. But then WWE came up with the idea of debuting Raw Underground as well as the faction named Retribution. The ratings have reflected in a positive way due to these two contents. If these continue to help build viewership then WWE won’t move up the date for the Draft from October.
While speaking to the , Seth Rollins also talked about the new Raw Underground segments. The top-most star of WWE’s flagship show who could be an active part of WWE Draft wants to go with a wait-and-see approach with this concept. He’s not quite sure about how things would play out in the upcoming days regarding this or if it would be beneficial on a long-term perspective. This does leave the door wide open for the Draft that could be used to gain attention.
“Obviously, it worked in the first week since we saw a bump in viewership. Now, can we keep the ball rolling? Let’s see. I had no idea what to expect when I first saw it (Raw Underground) mentioned on the sheet.
“When I watched it back, I wasn’t entirely offended by it, especially since it’s a brand new idea. I want to see what it turns into down the road. It is 2020 and anything can happen. Obviously, we are all hoping for the best,” stated Rollins (Quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
