As its new RPG model like Gameplay continues in Valhalla, Assassin's Creed is unlikely to return to its roots of strong social stability.

Over the past few years, Ubisoft’s flagship franchise has seen many significant changes in its basic infrastructure. Assassin's theory was often very similar to action / entertainment, with a strong focus on the basic concept of "social" stealth in crowds. For a while, that was a unique gameplay hook for the franchise, which hides incognito among citizens or hidden contexts and pretends to be another face in the crowd. Although, as the series progresses annually, the cracks have begun to show in Assassin’s Creed gameplay loop that damaged the series’s recovery.

Among other things like Unity’s negative release, Ubisoft finally took a break from Assassin’s Creed to bring back the franchise on the drawing board. Assassin's Creed has been successful in reconstructing its main formula, switching to an RPG style framework similar to that of Witcher 3. From there, while Origins performed very well in the first release, Assassin's Creed Odyssey pointed to the true blossom of I Assassin's Creed RPG. While not a bad thing, that success means that Assassin's Creed will never return to its original roots.

In a similar vein, Assassin’s first Creed release was not so surprising, but it was the beginning of something big. While the first game helped develop the skills of different independent social franchise programs, Assassin's Creed 2 was when the series came into its own. The compelling story of revenge, exciting characters, a well-crafted and refined gameplay, and a dramatic increase in scales and scope are what made Assassin's Creed 2 and the series as a whole a huge success.

Subsequent games will continue to decline on the basis of Assassin's Creed 2, or after the end of Ezio's story, but it is only then that the cracks in the game and the annual release model begin to show. Even before Assassin's Creed Unity turned into a reed that broke the camel's back, there were signs in Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Even in those two examples, when both the Black Flag and Assassin's Creed 3 were disrupted by naval exploration and combat, the constant use of dumping equipment and the implementation of social inequality began to disintegrate and disintegrate the main fanbase.

As a result, after Unity's troublesome release and the lackluster release of the Syndicate, Assassin's Creed franchise changed gears with Origins. Assassin's Creed Origins took the franchise very far back in ancient Egypt, and included RPG equipment and progression. This new direction of the series saw dignified compliments from old and new fans, and while the elements of socialization have diminished considerably, the context of the game's story justifies the new extinction and progression based on the RPG. This unique takeover will continue in the next sequel, Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

From there, Odyssey took the origins of Origins and fled with a broad and fascinating RPG experience that saw huge popularity. The variety and importance of the spoils became very personal, allowing Alexios / Kassandra to be very few. The RPG mechanics themselves reward and encourage the exploration of ancient Greece, without offending the speed of the great story of the game far away. Assassin's Creed Odyssey has ended up being one of the most successful characters in the entire franchise to date, reinforcing the fact that the series' new RPG series was impressive among old and new fans.

Assassin's Confession of Faith May Never Return to Its Social Roots

For the hardcore fans of Assassin's Creed, especially those who do not care much about RPG Assassin's Creed, they may not be very happy about the future of Assassin's Creed. It is very likely that Assassin's Creed franchise will stick to the RPG mechanics for as long as possible, especially considering the success brought by Ubisoft. That doesn't mean the series is focused on what the game sells, rather it does mean that the future episodes in the series will likely stick to the continuation of the RPG level. Many of the modern times that take place in the suburbs of big cities like Assassin's Creed 2 just won't lend itself to that kind of game.

That also may mean that modern historical periods such as Unity and Syndicate will probably not see any mileage for a while. Feudal Japan's most sought-after version of Assassin's Creed, for example, would be perfect for further RPG style and equipment now at the level of the series. With the establishment of World War 2, when there is a lot of modern technology and a lot of people in cities, RPG equipment may not be enough. At least in the near future, Assassin’s Creed will probably not return to the social roots of the original games. That may not disappoint the fanbase majority, but for the traditional ones, it’s not a good sign.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla release on November 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The PS5 version is released on November 12, 2020.
