Huma Qureshi biography

Huma Saleem Qureshi born in 28 July 1986 on New Delhi, indiat is an Indian movie actress and model, who has received 03 Filmfare Award nominations.


Huma Qureshi completed a bachelor's degree in History—with honours—from the University of Delhi, India while she worked as a theatre actress and model. After working in many theatrical productions, she moved to Mumbai and signed a 02 year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in TV commercials. During the shoot for a Samsung mobile commercial, director Anurag Kashyap noticed her acting ability and signed her for a 03-film deal with his company.


Huma Qureshi made her movie debut with a supporting role in the 02-part 2012 crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur movie. Her performance in the movie earned her many nominations, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and the Best Supporting Actress. That same year, she played the lead female role in the romance movie Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, and followed it with a role in Ek Thi Daayan movie. She worked in following movies Shorts (2013), the black comedy Dedh Ishqiya (2014), the revenge drama Badlapur (2015), the Marathi road drama Highway (2015) and featured briefly in the collaborative film X: Past Is Present (2015).


Huma Qureshi was into a Muslim family in New Delhi, India. Her father, Saleem Qureshi, is a restaurateur who runs a chain of ten restaurants, her mother, Ameena Qureshi (a Kashmiri), is a housewife. She has 03 brothers, including Bollywood actor Saqib Saleem. The family relocated to Kalkaji, South Delhi, when Qureshi was a small child. Huma completed her bachelor's degree in History with Honours from the Gargi College—University of Delhi, India. Later, she joined Act one theatre group and performed in a few theatre productions. N. K Shrama was her mentor and acting teacher during her theatre days. She has worked with many NGOs and assisted a documentary filmmaker.
