Blackjack is a common plant found in almost every regional topography of India. It suitably grows in almost every soil type. However, it thrives well in fertile soil in the wild, planting fields and gardens and in soil with high humus content. Favorably, the plant grows well in a soil with pH range of 4 to 9 and can tolerate saline soil to certain extent.

Blackjack is often looked as a weed, but with enhanced researched and advanced botanical improvement, it is today considered as one of the most important antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic and anticancer herb that has a great range of utilization for different purposes.
Blackjack have a numerous health benefits for both humans and animals. For intances, in chicken, it prevents the Coccidiosis which is the most common and the number killer among many chicks. It increases body weight gain. It also prevents digestive disorder. It contains minerals and vitamins essential and also has huge fibre contain which is important for the growth of chicken. In humans, it prevents ulcers and other digestive disorder. It also prevents memory loss and reduce belly fats. It helps people with cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, heart attack, heart failure, stroke and diabetes. It also prevents gout attck by increasing the efficiency of the kidney in excreting the uric acid from the blood effectively.
How to use it?
In chicken, use it as a supplement. Get the plant and hang it so that the chickens can feed on the leaves, flower-buds and soft stem where as for humans you can cook as vegetables or prepare as a tea. To make a tea, get a handful of fresh leaves. After washing and cutting the leaves, put it in a pot and add a cup of water. Boil for 10 minutes and you are ready to sip.
