Microsoft continues to change details in the Dynamics of Windows 10 that give users more control over updates.

We've already seen how Windows Update has changed by giving more options to the user about when and how to install updates. Now we find messages of the style "Quality update options available" to easily distinguish from which update it is and decide whether to install or not.

Continuing with this line, it is now changing the way drivers are updated, following a dynamic almost similar to the rest of the updates. The idea is that users understand and have some control over the drivers that are installed on the computer.

You may have noticed that when you connect a new peripheral on your PC, there is a small process that usually initiates with the automatic installation of the corresponding driver and ends with the device settings. For most this goes unnoticed, as it only interests that the device runs smoothly.

However, Windows wants the user to be able to have control over this process and decide which manual drivers to install on the computer, rather than letting the system install it automatically from Windows Update as part of the process.

While automatic updates will follow the same process, the user will need to set which drivers they want to install manually. To do this, simply go to Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update and check for the "View all optional updates" option. This will open a list of suggested updates, including driver updates.

There you will find a list of drivers options available to download and install manually, along with the corresponding descriptions and dates. If you want to install them, just select them. This change in Windows will begin to be deployed starting November 5.
