The Babadook- If its in a word or if its in a book, you can't get rid of the babadook. Exceptional acting from the lead mother son duo. A grief stricken mother and a bratty boy dealing with tragedy and something sinister. Is it real or all in the mind. Trust me the words don't do justice to this gem.
Oculus- A brother sister duo and a mirror. Again is it all in the mind or is it really happening. Superb stuff keeping you glued till the Climax.
The shining- Every horror fan worth his salt knows about this movie, widely featuring in various top horror movie lists. Jack Nicholson is terrific.
IT- A shape-shifting eater of children clown and a bunch of children. Loved it.
IT FOLLOWS- A fatal curse/death passed from victim to victim after an act of sexual intercourse. Innovative and unrelenting.
EVIL DEAD OLD I II AND 2013 VERSION- Evil dead I & II are classics. Scary and funny. 2013 version is good not s classic but certainly gorier, violent and grim.
UNFRIENDED- Shot like video chats and seen from a computer screen almost entirely. 6 friends get a shock when they receive messages on social media from a deceased known person.
THE CONJURING 1- A modern classic.
RING I II- Child actor and Naomi Watts are good. And the movie is good too. You watch a certain tape and then death comes calling on the 7th day. Though it is said the Japanese original is way more scary.
1408- A man specializing in debunking paranormal happenings goes in to room no 1408 of a hotel to investigate.
THE EXORCIST- Absolute classic. No. 1 in many top horror movie lists.
THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE- Wonderfully directed and playing up themes of logic v supernatural stuff. Very very interesting and scary. Exorcism gone wrong-was it schizophrenia or some disease or actual possession. Jennifer Carpenter as the victim delivers a knock out punch.
OUIJA:Origin of Evil - A widow and her daughters help people by connecting them with their dead ones spirits. It is all hogwash untill…
HEREDITARY- Climax reveals the true meaning of hereditary whereas the entire movie leaves you to believe in another conventional way. Unpredictable, scary, well enacted. It has everything.
GET OUT(its horrific but not in traditional ghost horror sense)- It is simply incredible. Daniel kaluuya is brilliant.
Paranormal Activity 1 & 2- Brought back the found footage horror in a big way. Lovely performances.
The Witch- Anya Taylor Joy is brilliant to watch. Same girl who was in Split as well who survives. Based in 1600 England where every mishap is thought of as an act of witch and young girls are looked with suspicion. Absolutely terrific movie and the climax shot is liberating, dreadful, wow.
Orphan (terrific twist, again not traditional horror stuff) - Good premise and what a mindfuck of a twist.
INSIDIOUS 1 & 2- Entertaining horror movies, abundant with scares and decent plot and funny at places.
THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE- Almost entirely movie takes place inside a morgue involving Father, son as coroners and a female dead body whose post mortem reveals bizarre things.
DRAG ME TO HELL- A bank officer refuses extension on loan to an old lady who puts out a curse and mayhem ensues. Scary and well made.
ANNABELLE CREATION- Takes a little time to get going but it is very very good. Silence in the terror scenes is effectively portrayed and adds to the dread.
THE LAST EXORCISM (2010)! -An evangelical minister agrees to take part in a documentary designed to expose exorcism as a fraud. With so many horror films depicting exorcisms, this one still stands out and is pretty effective.
