During the yatra from 2022, railway passengers will be able to enjoy entertainment services like cinema, shows, educational programmes, videos. Railway PSU RailTel said on Tuesday that it will be available in both paid and unpaid forms. The government telecom company has selected Zee Entertainment's associate Margo network as digital entertainment service provider (DESP). The Routes network would provide content on demand (COD) in trains and stations."CoD will be available in all premium, express, mail trains and suburban trains of Indian Railways in the next two years," Railtel said.
Content such as cinema, show, educational programme will be made available in both contract paid and unpaid forms for 10 years. It will have to implement two years of commencement. 'The project would provide various pre-loaded multi-lingual content (cinema, music, videos, general entertainment, lifestyle) through media service set up in rail tel running trains. Travellers with COD can consume free and subscription based entertainment service seamlessly despite unstable mobile networks during their journey.
The entire service will be prepared within 2022. Cod service will not only improve travel experience but also increase non-fare revenue. Puneet Chawla, CMD, Railtel said that the service will cover all the 17 zones of Indian Railways. The project will mainly result in income from three sectors such as ad-based monetization, fee based monetization and e-commerce or partnership service.
