Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off the Kashi Mahakal Express from Varanasi on Sunday. After the successful reception of Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express and Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express trains, IRCTC- a subsidiary of Indian Railways is starting it's third private passenger train- Kashi Mahakal Express. The pilgrimage train, which will run on the Indore-Varanasi route, will start regular commercial operations from 20 February 2020 onwards.
The train will also connect three holy Jyotirlingas – Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar and Kashi Vishwanath. This fully air-conditioned train will have the similar rakes of Humsafar Express.
The Ministry of Railways has assured to deliver a comfortable overnight journey experience to the passengers opting for this train.
Along with connecting the spiritual places of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the train will also connect the modern industrial and educational hubs of Indore and Bhopal.
The train will have designated halt at Ujjain, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow and Sultanpur stations.
Frequency: The Kashi Mahakal train will run thrice a week between Varanasi and Indore -- once via Prayagraj and twice via Lucknow.
Features: The train will provide "high quality" entirely vegetarian meals with a touch of local cuisines. Also, round-the--clock security, CCTV cameras are installed in the train. It will have systematic and efficient housekeeping staff assisting the passengers. Complimentary bed-rolls will be provided in it. Free travel insurance of Rs 10 Lakh is also a part of the ticket.
Ticket booking: The booking is exclusively available on the IRCTC website and its mobile app. The tickets of this train can't be booked at railway reservation counters. The advance tickets can be booked 120 days before the journey date.

Ticket fare: Just like the other two Tejas Express trains, Kashi Mahakal Express will also have a dynamic fare structure. The dynamic nature of the structure basically ensure that fares will be based on the demand of the occupancy. According to the IRCTC website, for a one-side journey, a commuter will have to pay around Rs 1951.
