What is common between The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame and Aladdin? These Hollywood films crushed the local competition to an unprecedented degree and established their dominance at the domestic box office.
Avengers: Endgame earned a staggering Rs 373.22 crore in its entire run to become the highest-grossing Hollywood release in India. The Lion King, which has raked in Rs 69.67 crore in just five days, is trending better than most Hindi films this year. Aladdin emerged victorious over its competitors, the PM Narendra Modi biopic and India's Most Wanted, to be the top choice of cinegoers that week.
All this, despite releasing in a lesser number of screens as compared to Bollywood biggies.
Other major Hollywood films like Captain Marvel, John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum and Spider-Man: Far From Home also enjoyed a great run in theatres here.
